I Lick It Because I Like It

First, Michael Douglas is quoted as allegedly claiming to have caught his throat cancer through cunnilingus, then his spokesman says that this isn't what he said, that Douglas was speaking generally, and that the Guardian had got it wrong.

To remove any doubt, the Guardian released the audio of the interview with Douglas, the relevant part of which was ...

"No. Because without wanting to get too specific, this particular cancer is caused by HPV, which actually comes about from cunnilingus."

Douglas continued: "I did worry if the stress caused by my son's incarceration didn't help trigger it. But yeah, it's a sexually transmitted disease that causes cancer."

My opinion is that the Guardian got it wrong: a slip of the pen rather than a slip of the tongue, if you will.

  1. For some reason, I am reminded of the popular misprint "the penis mightier than the sword".
